YES its time to do another FRIENDS swap. I know last time I hosted this swap everybody enjoyed it and were looking forward to the "next" one.....yes, I know it's taken a while, but that is because it is a lot of work hosting. I say that because I like to keep in touch with everybody on a regular basis to ensure we all have a great swap and nobody misses out or disappointed.

We will be swapping Seven (7) gifts starting with the letters of the word FRIENDS. This is open to all crafty bloggers with a current blog....Quilters, sewers, scrappers, etc.

So one gift for each word will be sent. These 7 gifts will be your choices. Choices you will make once you get your partner and and the questionairre they complete to help you choose what they would like. These gifts can be handmade or brought.

Examples might be:

F - fat quarter, fabric, felted animal, felted needlebook, friends mini photo/scrap album
R - Ric Rac, Ribbon, Red fabric, Ring, Rose candles or hand cream, Rub-ons for scrappers
I - Inspiration (craft or quilt magazine), Inches(tape measure or quilting ruler), Interesting Item
E - Egg Cup,Envelopes (personsalised), Ear-rings, Englebreit fabric
N - Notions, Needles, Needlecase, Notebook, Necklace,
D - Dark Chocolate, die cut letters for scrappers, doll, diary,
S - Sewing thread, Sewing case, Scrapbooking paper, Something Special,

The list is never ending and only up to your imagination and what you think your partner would love.

There are rules like any other swap. Please do not sign up unless you can honour the swap and not disappoint anybody. There will be plenty of time to do this swap.

Closing date to sign up is the
10th of August. The final day to post your swap to your partner will be 26 October (my birthday :)

Now to cover Swap Etiquette. This is about setting standards.

What's the difference?

Bad ones are usually late, if they arrive at all. They seem to be put together without any thought for what their partner would like or dislike. Random bits of anything found from around the house or maybe even items meant for the rubbish bin but re-gifted to fulfill their swap commitment.

Good ones are usually on time, if not early, wrapped in tissue, if not wrapping paper, so that it feels like care was taken. Even a tea bag or a chocolate bar becomes special when wrapped.

As soon as you are notified with your swap partner’s information - it is polite to email each other and get to know each other more if you don’t already know each other. Don’t be afraid to talk about the things you like or dislike and discuss things like favorite colors.

If you are a good swap partner then you will go investigate their Blog, and look for clues as to what they may enjoy receiving from you.

If you are a bad swap partner you won't take the time and are just going to give what you want and hope it's enough or that they will like it

*If you don't want to give - Don't do the swap.

*If you don't have the time- Don't do the swap.

Swap Unto Others Like You Would Have Them Swap Unto You. Yes, it's as simple as that.

The Golden Rule!

Communicate- if you are going to be late then please email me and your partner and tell us - once the Due Date has come and gone and they are left sad and lonely by their forlorn and empty mailbox it's TOO LATE TO APOLOGIZE!!!

Most people will forgive you and will be relieved to know that you are going to give them something. Now, of course there are variables - you may have a legitimate reason for being late. There is nothing sadder or more disappointing than not getting your swap package.

Please Email me and your partner so they know you have received their gift as soon as possible. This is just common courtesy.

If you wish to join the swap, Please Email me answering the following questions:

My Friend Terry and Betty

Betty Boop is small and red,
her seats are black with plush new thread,
There sits behind her steering wheel
a cute little blond with nerves of steel,

Mile upon mile of endless tar
this little chick drove her little red car,
now and then did she stop for rest,
and then off again to do her best,

Along for the ride came her elderly friend,
might this send Khris 'round the big bendy bend,
no by gosh I don't think so
but then again how would she know.

At the end of the day after making our way,
it was time to look for a place to stay,
Over the night Betty shivered with cold
by the morn ice had taken it's hold.

Off to a cold and misty start
bacon, eggs and toast made their mark,
soon the sun was peeking through
this lovely day all special and new.

Christmas in July - 6 month challenge

I joined Amanda along with other bloggers to make one item over the next 6 months starting last month. The first challenge last month was to make a Christmas Ornament. I decided to do a couple of prim ornaments that are freebies.

This month the challenge was to make a Christmas Table-runner. This is what I came up with. I am thinking I will make some place-mats to go with it. I am thinking this fabric really is a bit too cutesy for me though. Not sure if I will keep it or not.

888 Crazy 8 Give Away

What a coincidence for the winner of the Crazy 8 Honey Bun and Turnover to be called "Lucky-1".

Can you believe it? Its kind of amazing that from 357 entries "Lucky-1" is actually somebody I know. "Lucky aka Leanne" really is a deserving winner as she would do anything for anybody and really is a lovely lady. I still cannot believe "Lucky" won!

Congratulations to you Lucky and a big thank you to all the lovely comments from all the lovely readers. Whether you follow this blog or not I appreciate your comments and friendships I have made along the way.

And.....because I love giving I am going to give away one of my own patterns to 8 more lucky people. You get to choose from my Sew Charmed Quilt pattern or my Sling Bag pattern. These will be emailed to you. If you wish to win one of my patterns leave me a comment. I will draw this on the 17th of July seeing that 1 and 7 equals 8. Keeping in line with the lucky 8 theme.

Hugs to all, Khris
